H.E.L.P. is a multi-treatment facility that offers a continuum of addiction and health care services, including methadone treatment, chemical dependency and primary care.
ADDICTION MEDICINE SERVICES
1. Methadone Maintenance
Treatment Program (MMTP)
The MMTP has provided care since 1974 and utilizes a “cluster” counseling model to identify and address the various needs of opioid-dependent patients. This model monitors rehabilitative progress and the changing needs of patients while promoting sobriety and abstinence.

2. The KEEP Program
H.E.L.P. offers treatment for the Key Extended Entry Program (KEEP), a six-month program coordinated by the Riker’s Island Correctional Facility in New York City. This unique program identifies opioid-addicted persons who are incarcerated and initiates methadone treatment.
H.E.L.P. accepts direct transfers upon re-entry into the community as well as applicants with no prior methadone treatment. The KEEP program treats individuals who receive substance abuse education, referrals for additional needs and assistance for selecting future treatment. |

3. Chemical Dependency Unit
In response to the high number of individuals and families impacted by alcohol, cocaine, marijuana, benzodiazepines and other substances, H.E.L.P. developed a chemical dependency unit in 2002. A specialized team of certified social workers, credentialed alcohol and substance abuse counselors and qualified health professionals conduct multi-faceted interventions, promote and help maintain sobriety, reduce recidivism and increase employability. Patients receive intense individual counseling augmented by group counseling and other educational and skill-building interventions. These skills include relapse prevention, coping and family life skills, parenting classes, violence management, vocational planning and employment. Alumni conduct aftercare self-help group activities which emphasize positive role models and ongoing peer support.
