Join Our Team as a Mental Health Counselor at Harlem East Life Plan (HELP)

Position:
Mental Health Counselor
Location: East Harlem, New York
Job Type: Full-Time
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct care and support to individuals with mental health disorders
- Assist in the development and implementation of treatment plans
- Conduct therapy sessions and facilitate group therapy activities
- Document patient progress and maintain accurate medical records
- Administer medications as prescribed by healthcare professionals
- Monitor patients for any changes in behavior or symptoms
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure comprehensive care
Experience:
- Minimum of 1 year of experience working in a mental health setting
- Proficiency in medical documentation and record keeping
- Knowledge of therapy techniques and interventions
- Familiarity with ICD-10 coding for accurate diagnosis and billing purposes
- Experience in providing care for individuals with PTSD, including trauma-informed care approaches
- Knowledge of dance therapy as an alternative therapeutic modality
- Ability to collect and analyze data related to patient outcomes and treatment effectiveness
- Proficiency in psychotherapy techniques, including cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT)
- Experience in child and family counseling, addressing the unique needs of young patients and their families
- Familiarity with addiction counseling principles and techniques for individuals struggling with substance abuse disorders
- Understanding of chronic pain management strategies and counseling approaches for individuals experiencing chronic pain

Full-Time | Experienced Clinician
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) to join our multidisciplinary team. The ideal candidate is clinically strong, professional, and committed to providing high-quality behavioral health services.
Qualifications:
- Active New York State LCSW license (required)
- Minimum of 3 years of full-time post-licensure clinical experience
- Strong diagnostic, assessment, and treatment planning skills
- Experience providing individual and/or group psychotherapy
- Familiarity with documentation standards, compliance, and ethical guidelines
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced clinical environment
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive clinical services, including assessments and psychotherapy
- Maintain timely and accurate clinical documentation
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to support client care
- Participate in case conferences, supervision, and quality improvement initiatives
- Uphold agency policies and professional standards of care
