Impaired Driver Screening and Assessment

Harlem East Life Plan is a New York State OASAS licensed provider that conducts screenings and assessments for Impaired Driver Program participants.  Our screening is a process aimed to identify risk factors for substance use disorder to diagnose and develop specific treatment recommendations.

Based on your assessment, HELP can either provide you with an acceptable proof of completion or referral to our substance use treatment program. We provide convenient and flexible scheduling usually within one business day.  Call 212.876.2300 to speak with a specialist or to make an appointment.

What to Expect at Your Appointment

Your screening and assessment takes approximately 45-60 minutes and includes:

  • Understanding your individual needs
  • Reviewing any prior incidents
  • Driving history / record review
  • Urine test / toxicology
  • Completing the assessment

Acceptable Proofs of Completion (IDP)

HELP can provide acceptable proof of completion for the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) Impaired Driver Program (IDP).   HELP can assist with the electronic submission through the OASAS State Impaired Driver System (IDS).  For more detailed information, please refer to the DMV Website for Acceptable Proofs of Completion.
